New Mexico reports 186 new virus cases, 7 deaths

The state Department of Health reported seven deaths and 186 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the fourth day in a row with fewer than 200 cases.

Those who died included a Bernalillo County man in his 30s who had underlying conditions.

The state has had a total of 3,860 reported deaths and 188,664 reported cases.

A little over one-third – 72 – of Tuesday’s cases were reported in Bernalillo County. Doña Ana County reported 31, Luna County reported 17, and Sandoval County reported 14. All other counties reported 10 or fewer new cases of the virus.

In addition to the death of the man in his 30s, the state reported the deaths of a Lea County woman in her 50s with underlying conditions, and three people in their 60s; an Otero County woman who was hospitalized; a Valencia County man who had underlying conditions; and a Chaves County man who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

The others who died were in their 70s and 80s.

On Tuesday, 137 people were hospitalized with COVID in New Mexico. The DOH has reported 168,191 cases as having recovered.
