BeWellnm is increasing its assistance for low-income New Mexicans under the recent federal stimulus program.
BeWellnm announced this week that under the American Rescue Plan, the $1.9 trillion economic stimulus effort signed into law earlier this month, it will increase financial assistance on the federal health insurance premium subsidies for the Affordable Care Act insurance marketplace, according to a news release from the health insurance exchange.
The subsidies give uninsured and insured New Mexicans a new opportunity to find coverage.
Under the new program, individuals who make less than $20,000 per year could have their monthly payments eliminated completely, according to the release. New Mexicans who were laid off from work due to the pandemic can also find affordable coverage by enrolling in the health insurance marketplace, according to the release. They may be eligible to receive the increased financial assistance, or they can remain on their former employer’s health insurance plan through COBRA.
