There were no new COVID-related deaths reported in New Mexico on Sunday, the first time since October the state didn’t report any deaths in a day.
State health officials reported 176 new cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, Bernalillo County had the most, with 56, followed by Doña Ana County, with 20, according to a Department of Health news release.
For the past week, the state have averaged 203 cases and five deaths per day, according to a Journal analysis.
On Sunday, 122 people in were in New Mexico hospitals with COVID, according to the news release.
The state has had a 189,731 confirmed COVID cases and 3,889 virus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.
A state vaccine dashboard updated Sunday showed that 38.6% of qualified New Mexicans have received at least one shot of the COVID vaccine and 23.5% were fully vaccinated.
