Daniels Fund names 29 New Mexico scholarship winners

The Daniels Fund has announced its 2021 list of scholarship winners from four states, including 29 students from 16 different cities and towns around New Mexico.

Daniels Scholars are assessed on their strength of character, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service, according to a news release.

The winners were selected from nearly 2,000 applicants.

“The 2021 cohort is impressive and filled with outstanding young people who have promising futures ahead,” said Hanna Skandera, president and CEO of the Daniels Fund and former secretary of New Mexico’s Public Education Department. “We’re delighted to have them join the family of Daniels Scholars and look forward to being a part of their journey through college and beyond.”

Scholarship winners may attend any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States. The program covers up to $25,000 per year in educational expenses that remain after any other scholarships, financial aid, and the Expected Family Contribution have been applied.
