Hole No. 3

Yardage: 308

Par: 4

“The Tank Hole,” the affable Kersting says. “Friends don’t let friends drive the tank. But it’s an option.”

The normal play is a tee shot around 225 yards, leaving about 80 yards from the downhill lie. If you hit your tee shot too far (240 yards), then you’re in jail with pine trees awaiting your second shot.

Option 2: Hit tee shot 40 yards left with only 205 yards carry. The golf ball will bounce on top of the water tank, over more pine trees and trickle onto the green for an eagle putt. However, carry your tee shot more than 220 yards, and you end up on a tricky sandy surface with more pine trees to carry on your approach.

“Now, don’t get me started on the Windmill Hole,” Kersting says with a laugh.
