For the second Sunday in a row, New Mexico didn’t report any additional COVID-related deaths.
The state did report 167 new cases of COVID-19. Bernalillo County had the highest number of cases, with 50, followed by Doña Ana County with 19, according to a Department of Health news release.
The statewide toll remained at 3,925 COVID-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.
For the past week, the state has averaged 188 new cases and five COVID-related deaths per day, according to a Journal analysis.
On Sunday, 109 people were hospitalized with COVID throughout the state.
COVID cases are declining in New Mexico as more and more people are vaccinated. A state vaccine dashboard updated Sunday showed that 43.3% of New Mexicans 16 and over have received at least one COVID vaccine shot and 26.6% have received both doses.
