ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police issued a summons to an individual on a charge of child endangerment after the person showed up armed to a demonstration near Civic Plaza, police said.
Gilbert Gallegos, a police spokesman, said that a “white supremacy protest” that police had anticipated didn’t materialize on Sunday.
But he did say that a family that included two women, two children and an armed man showed up near the plaza where counter demonstrators had gathered. The man was seen with a sign that said “All Guns Matter.”
Gallegos said that “tensions rose” during the incident and police tried to diffuse the situation.
The man was issued a court summons, Gallegos said.
