ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — ♦ GIVE B. R. Holbrook a heap of credit for the way he managed that last drive in the HI game, and actually, for the way he played the entire game. Great job!

♦ IT JUST occurred to me that the Lobos have a better record than the Cowboys.
♦ CONGRATS TO Coach Davie & the Lobos (now 4-3) who need three wins in six games to become bowl eligible. Talk about a roller-coaster game of momentum shifts versus Hawaii. And ESPN’s College Game-Day guys praised the UNM turnaround by their friend Bob Davie. Also, congrats to Artesia, NM native Landry Jones for becoming OU’s winning-est QB when his Sooners throttled Texas in the Red River Rivalry (Boomer Sooner).
♦ I NOMINATE Coach Davie as NATIONAL Coach of the Year. Great game vs Hawaii & what an unbelievable job by Coach Davie & his staff & our beloved lobos. Now we as fans need to start doing our part, by selling out Univ./Branch Stadium for the Fresno game. We are the Lobo Nation !

♦ BOB DAVIE’S COMMENT “For us to come over here and get a win with the injuries we had during the game.” is particularly relevant, especially since the Lobos are so thin in the secondary. Injuries are something all college coaches have to deal with, but some do it better than others. Established college football programs are usually deep enough in all positions to account for expected injuries, but UNM doesn’t have that luxury. If Coach Davie can continue fielding a competitive team for the remaining 6 games, he has to be selected, hands down, the Mountain West Coach of the Year.
