It has been 13 years since Marble Brewery opened.
The brewery is celebrating its anniversary with small events during April. The brewery began with a sold-out beer and cheese pairing earlier this month and a $4 classic pint day for brewery club members. But the fun continues with a 420 celebration on Tuesday, April 20.
The party starts at 4:20 p.m. with DJ ALXXS Garza at Marble’s Downtown location, 111 Marble NW. The special release of Kush Water will also happen the same day. The beer was created in commemoration of Marble turning 13.
“It’s a heavy (Double India Pale Ale),” said Geraldine Lucero, marketing and events coordinator at Marble. “It’s a 420-inspired heavy DIPA. And it is brewed with El Dorado and Azacca hops. … And this was part of the small-batch series. So we brewed about 20 barrels. And we are going to can it and release it at all three taproom locations.”
On April 22, brewery club members will enjoy Growler Hour all day. Members can purchase any classic Marble beers in 64-ounce growler fills for $8. Sushi lovers will not want to miss the Center Stage Sushi and Beer Pairing at 6 p.m. on April 27, at Marble’s West Side location, 5740 Night Whisper NW. Raul Maestas, owner and chef of Ohana Hut, will be rolling sushi on stage to be paired with selected Marble beers. The event is $40 per person. There are no presale tickets, and the event will be first come, first serve.
“He’s gonna roll out four different types, four new and unique different types of sushi rolls,” Lucero said. “You’re gonna get four 6-ounce beers. And then there’ll be four different special pairings. … We’re going to try to make this a special, like a cool dinner, a cool event, like good vibes, great music playing. … We want to kind of keep it a little sexy too. And then give people an option to do something like a cool date night too. You know, like, something a little different than we have done at the West Side taproom.”
Marble collaborated with Canteen Brewhouse for its Rock, Bock N’ Beets.
The beer will be released on April 28 at all three Marble locations as well as Canteen’s brewery and taproom.
“It’s a collaboration we did with Canteen Brewhouse and it’s a bock,” Lucero said. “It’s a beet-infused bock beer, essentially. Yeah, this was a collaboration that our head brewer, Andrew Krosche, and (head brewer) Zach (Guilmette) from Canteen have been talking about doing for, like, the last six years. Like, they’ve just been talking about this beer forever, and they never did it. And so now it’s come to fruition, and it’s pretty cool. … It’s gonna be a pretty solid beer. It’s a beautiful bright purple. … It’s gonna be awesome. I’m really excited about it.”
Rounding out the birthday events will be 30% off merchandise for all brewery club members on April 30. The brewery is gradually starting to add in events after the pandemic shutdowns in 2020.
One of the events at limited capacity will include mariachis the weekend before Cinco de Mayo.
“It feels good to start planning this again,” Lucero said. “I felt, like, rusty after a while. I’m, like, oh, I’ve got to start planning events. But it feels good too; like I said, there’s just that light that’s at the end of the tunnel. And I like the energy. It is definitely shifting in a positive way, and we’re just grateful to be able to celebrate 13 years here. You know, the community has given us so much. So it’s a good feeling. It’s a lot different than this time last year.”
