Sports Speak Up! Lots of love for Lobo coaches, coming and going

RAY BIRMINGHAM — a class act!

— Frank, South Valley

SURPRISED AND saddened over Ray Birmingham’s retirement announcement, and I’m not even that big of a baseball fan. I thought he would coach at UNM forever. Such a wonderful mentor. Definitely a loss for UNM athletics.

— Bob, UNM Area

CONGRATS TO Heather Dyche and the Lady Lobo soccer team for winning the league championship and going to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2011. I hope you do well and go far in the tourney. I also hope the Journal will send a live reporter to cover their games.

— Rich, Corrales

GIVE CREDIT to Coach Pitino, he is saying all the right things. Now he has shown he can also recruit. I promised myself that I would not fall for another smooth talking Lobo coach, but darn it, I’m smitten. If he can coach the exes and oohs, then we may have marriage material. I just hope he doesn’t cheat and break our Lobo hearts.
