ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Linking to no-source “has learned” stories like this one from the Denver Post is always a bit dicey. But if Colorado State-Alabama football games in 2013 and 2015 are merely a rumor, as CSU athletic director Jack Graham says, at least it’s one that makes sense.
Rams coach Jim McElwain came to CSU from Alabama, where he was Nick Saban’s offensive coordinator. Colorado State has a spot for a 13th game in 2013 because of the Hawaii exemption — which is why New Mexico’s playing 13 games this year — and Saban recently told the Alabama media that the Crimson Tide has just finished up its 2013 schedule.
Two games in Tuscaloosa certainly would net CSU a chunk of change, just as UNM has gotten from money games at Arkansas and Texas last year and this and will get from a trip to Texas A&M next fall.
