Edgewood woman killed in rollover crash Thursday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An Edgewood woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 25 south of Belen on Thursday evening, according to New Mexico State Police.

Megan Cashman, 22, died in the single-vehicle rollover that happened around 6 p.m. near mile post 183, about a mile south of the Valencia/Socorro county line.

According to a State Police news release, Cashman was driving going south on I-25 when her SUV left the roadway — for unknown reasons — and rolled. Cashman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene.

A 1-year-old passenger was injured and taken to a hospital. Seat belts were properly used on the child, police said.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, the release said.
