ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — ♦ SHADES OF MCKAY? That’s gotta be the funniest thing I’ve ever read! The Lobos are 8-3 away from The Pit this season. McKay was somewhere around 8-2,432,541 in road games as Lobo coach. Shades of McKay! That’s hilarious!

♦ UPTOWN ED’S a knucklehead. Just saying…

♦ WHY IS IT after a loss the so called “faithful” jump off the fan wagon, and the blame game begins. Lobos lost to UNLV because….UNLV was the better team. I’m sure the wagon will circle back around & pick you up.

♦ DO PEOPLE JUST get on this space and randomly type in words without first thinking or what? I read a first recently as a writer actually compared Alford to Ritchie McKay saying that UNM was 1 and 3 on the road against what he determined were “good teams”. In actuality they are 5 and 3 in true road games against the top 100 with three of those true road wins being against the top 50 and that’s not counting the win against UCONN on the Virgin Islands. Overall UNM is 6 and 2 against the top 50 with an RPI of 3 and a SOS of 4. Coach Alford has as many road wins in his UNM career as Bliss, Fraschilla, and McKay combined for from 1996 through 2007 as comparing him to any of them is both hilarious and ludicrous!

♦ UNLV VS. UNM Women — 58 to 57 — close game the entire game. Too bad the UNM spirit squad couldn’t stop chatting among themselves long enough to urge on the fans and help provide the 6th man support needed. Opposing teams’ benches are louder than the UNM spirit squad. With 4 home games remaining, they need to step up and show real spirit.

♦ UNM’S ACCELERATION OF the senior football players Exit Interviews appears to defeat the purpose of conducting the interviews at the end of the semester, protection against retaliation. As I understand it they’re on scholarship until the end of the academic year. The football seniors need an Ombudsman. to protect against undue influence by UNM. Rick Wright would be a good candidate for Ombudsman, he is fair and knows football. I have reservations about Davie’s account of this entire affair.
