The New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division announced the three recipients of the 2021 Outdoor Recreation Division Business Accelerator Grants.
The grant program was created to fund accelerators that can help individuals and outdoor recreation companies improve their business plans, hire New Mexicans, and amplify the state’s reputation as a leader in the outdoor industry, according to a news release from the Outdoor Recreation Division.
The division received 14 grant applications, with requests that exceeded the amount of money available, according to the release. The three highest-scoring applicants were chosen to each receive a $20,000 award. Those recipients are as follows:
– New Mexico for Good, which will offer certificate programs and pilot two courses: Introduction to the Outdoor Economy and Validating an Outdoor Recreation Business Idea. Based on the success and interest in these two certificate programs, two added certificates may be offered: Launching a Successful Outdoor Recreation Business and Sustainability Leadership in Outdoor Recreation.
– Sandoval County, which will expand the pilot project undertaken over the past year to accelerate Sandoval County’s outdoor and leisure businesses’ use of online sales and marketing tools and platforms, in partnership with the nonprofit Creative Startups.
– Arrowhead Center, which has proposed an Outdoor Recreation Sprint business accelerator focused on starting and growing outdoor recreation businesses in Southern New Mexico.
