Williams, Kirk invited to tryout for Team USA University Games team

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico senior guard Kendall Williams and junior center Alex Kirk have been invited to tryout for the USA Basketball Men’s World University Games team that will compete July 7-16 in Kazan, Russia.

Tryouts will start June 24 in Colorado Springs.

The team is coached by Davidson head coach Bob McKillop with assistant coaches being John Beilein of Michigan and Frank Martin of South Carolina.

Senior forward Cameron Bairstow will travel back to Australia this month to try out for his home country’s University Games team as well.

RECRUIT TO VISIT: DeShawn Delaney, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard/small forward from Vincennes University junior college in Indiana will make an official recruiting visit to UNM next week.

Delaney, who is from Chicago and is one of the highest-rated junior college recruits still available for the 2013-14 season, has already visited Bradley University.

UNM has one scholarship available remaining for the 2013-14 season.

Accoding to, Delaney averaged 15.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this past season while shooting 51.4 percent from the field.
