The Albuquerque welterweight fought with skill and tenacity in blasting out a victory by lopsided, unanimous decision over defensive-minded, offensively challenged Marcus Brashears of Amarillo.
All three official judges saw Torres pitching a shutout: 80-72 over eight rounds.
Immediately afterward, Torres scored a bigger victory. His proposal of marriage to his girlfriend, Ariana Duran, was accepted.
Torres improved his record to 12-2-1, with five knockouts. Brashears, who spent most of the fight covering up in one of the ring’s four corners, is 9-16-1, with two KOs.
