Albuquerque MMA fighter John Dodson will return to the cage on July 30 in Greenville, South Carolina, as first reported Monday by mmajunkie.com and confirmed by Dodson on Instagram.
Dodson (21-12), who was released by the UFC after his Aug. 15, 2020 loss to Merab Dvalishvili — his third loss in four fights — is matched against Cody Gibson (16-7) on an XMMA card.
Twice, Dodson fought for the UFC flyweight title — losing both times to then-champion Demetrious Johnson.
Gibson also is a former UFC fighter. He went 1-3 in UFC fights.
