2 killed in NE Albuquerque crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An overnight crash in Northeast Albuquerque has left two people dead.

The crash occurred at about 3 a.m. Monday around San Pedro and Copper Avenue NE, said Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Gilbert Gallegos. He said a motorcycle was heading south on San Pedro and struck a man who was crossing San Pedro.

“The motorcycle struck the pedestrian just north of Copper Ave. NE,” Gallegos said in an email. “The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries on scene.”

He said the man on the motorcycle was transported to University of New Mexico Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Speed and pedestrian (error) appear to be contributing factors,” Gallegos said.
