ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A shooting outside a hotel on the West Side early Thursday morning left one man dead, according to the Albuquerque Police Department.

APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said officers were dispatched to the area of Coors and Iliff at about 2:30 a.m. in reference to an alert from a ShotSpotter — a gunshot detection system. When they got there, they found casings in the parking lot of the Travelodge.

“A male adult victim was transported to Lovelace downtown and was then transported to (University of New Mexico Hospital),” Gallegos said. “While en-route to UNMH, the victim succumbed to his injuries.”
