Firefighters snuff quarter-acre fire in the bosque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque firefighters extinguished an approximately quarter-acre fire in the bosque just west of Tingley Drive near Bridge Boulevard on Tuesday.

“Firefighters utilized hand tools and hand lines while operating in the bosque,” according to an afternoon update by Albuquerque Fire Rescue. “The AFR arson investigators were also called to the event due to the suspicious nature of the fire.”

Smoke was reported around 8:45 a.m.

About 26 firefighters in total, including member of the wildland task force, responded to the fire, which had 1-to-2-foot-tall flame lengths.

AFR said no members of the public or firefighters were injured.
