Police are investigating a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in Northeast Albuquerque.

Gilbert Gallegos, a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department, said the incident occurred at the Osuna Apartments at 5920 Osuna Road NE. He said officers were dispatched to a shooting at the apartment at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

“A caller to 911 stated her boyfriend had been shot,” Gallegos said. “Another caller also advised of shots heard in the apartment complex.”

When officers arrived at the complex, they found a man shot in the parking lot, he added. Gallegos said officers provided first aid, but the man did not survive.

“A person of interest is currently being detained,” he said. “Homicide detectives are currently conducting interviews and canvassing the area.”

APD didn’t release any potential motive in the killing.
