Robert Kent Jr., a former Duke City Gladiators quarterback and assistant coach, has been named to replace Martino Theus as coach of the Indoor Football League squad.

“I am thrilled to welcome Robert back to the Gladiators,” said owner Gina Prieskorn-Thomas in a release. “He has the championship mentality, skills, and vision to lead us.”

Kent Jr. joins the Gladiators (2-4) after leading the North Texas Bulls to the 2021 American Arena League Championship as their QB.

His first game in charge will be Saturday at the Rio Rancho Events Center against the Northern Arizona Wranglers, whose coach, Dominic Bramante, was released by Duke City after guiding the team to Champions Indoor Football titles in 2018 and 2019.

Also, in honor of the Gladiators’ seventh year in existence, tickets throughout the Events Center are available for $7. Free tickets are available for first responders.
