“Making a beer for this final season, that made a lot of sense to me,” Marble Brewery brewmaster and co-founder Ted Rice said. “I love the show. I’ve seen every episode to date. Our beer had a placement on the show on numerous occasions and I know some of the actors, and some of them have been to the brewery.”
“Heisenberg’s Dark” and “Walt’s White Lie” make their debuts on Thursday at Marble Brewery locations, as well as in bars and restaurants around town. One of the tribute beers is named after main character, Walter White, and the other after his alter-ego, Heisenberg.
The first episode of “Breaking Bad’s” final season airs Aug. 11.
“It’s going to be amazing,” Rice said of the two “Breaking Bad” tribute beers. “We’ll have them side by side and it will be the dark bitter counterpart to the white bright counterpart.”
“Heisenberg’s Dark” is an India Black Ale. It has a 6.5 percent alcohol volume and features an Australian hop called Galaxy, which has a “rich dynamic, citrusy, hoppy flavor.”
“We’ve never made an India Black Ale,” Rice said. “We wanted to play around with that black as night beer. It’s a seductive, smooth dark malt complimented with big, bright fruity hops over dark character.”
“Walt’s White Lie,” is an India White Ale, with 7.5 percent alcohol volume, and a “strong finish,” Rice said.
“This pale is really brisk on the palate,” he explained. “It’s summery in a way, but also bitter.”
Rice said the cable network AMC office in New York City also has requested some bottles of it. “Breaking Bad” airs on AMC.
