DENVER — Antero Resources Corp. (AR) on Wednesday reported a loss of $523.5 million in its second quarter.
The Denver-based company said it had a loss of $1.70 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 14 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 24 cents per share.
The oil and natural gas producer posted revenue of $489.4 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.2 billion.
Antero Resources shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $13.78, more than quadrupling in the last 12 months.
