Rained-out Isotopes to be both Cheeseburgers and Mariachis in Sunday doubleheader

The Mariachis’ Ryan Vilade leaps for a fly ball against the right field wall during the July 3 game, a 16-0 rain-shortened Albuquerque loss to visiting El Paso. Albuquerque will look for a better result Sunday vs. Salt Lake as the Mariachis — in game two of the scheduled doublheader. (Mike Sandoval/For the Journal)

‘TOPES SUNDAY: Vs. Salt Lake (doubleheader)

3:35 p.m., 610 AM/95.9 FM, abqisotopes.com

PROMOTION: Los Mariachis de Nuevo Mexico night, adult Mariachi jerseys giveaway

PROBABLES: Bees LHP Brian Johnson (2-2, 5.54) and RHP Chris Rodriguez (0-1, 5.87) vs. Isotopes RHPs Dereck Rodriguez (2-2, 9.44) and Frank Duncan (2-0. 2.08)

SATURDAY: The Isotopes and visiting Salt Lake were rained out, necessitating the Sunday doubleheader.

SUNDAY: The Isotopes will play game one as the Green Chile Cheeseburgers, which was Saturday’s scheduled promotion, before giving way to their other alter ego, the Mariachis, for the nightcap. The jersey giveaway (some 2,000 available) will begin upon the gates opening at 2:30 p.m. Saturday’s scheduled postgame fireworks show is rescheduled until after Sunday’s game two, weather permitting of course.

Saturday tickets can be exchanged for any future non-restricted 2021 Isotopes home game at the Isotopes Park box office, which opens Sunday at noon.
