Man found fatally shot near East Central

Officers found a man shot to death inside a van Friday morning in a neighborhood off East Central.

Albuquerque police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said police responded around 7 a.m. to the 400 block of Texas NE, near Copper, after a gunshot detection device reported gunfire in the area.

He said officers found a minivan parked on the street with its windshield shattered and a man “with trauma” in the passenger seat. Gallegos said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” he said.
