Rank: No. 5, small workplace category.

Description: Johnstone Supply – Albuquerque Group is a member of Johnstone Supply Inc., a national co-operative of HVAC and refrigeration wholesalers. The Albuquerque Group operates locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Farmington and Roswell, and employs 51 New Mexicans. The privately owned firm is being ranked on the Top Workplaces list for the first time this year.

From the Organization: “The Albuquerque Group started in 1978 as a single location in Albuquerque as an appliance parts distributor,” company leaders wrote. “As the co-op has grown and evolved, a shift was made away from Appliance parts to HVAC and refrigeration. Growth from one location to five has taken place over the past 12 years. We have several employees who have been with the company for more than 30 and even 40 years! Annual revenue has nearly tripled over the last 10 years.”

From the Employees: “Johnstone does whatever it takes to make sure all employees are cared for,” one employee wrote. “(We) have all the resources we need to do our job.”
