Something for everyone at the Fair - Albuquerque Journal

Something for everyone at the Fair

Forget all the chi-chi festivals and markets in Santa Fe. If you want to see what matters to people in the rural areas of the county – or even among animal-lovers and craftspeople in town – head over to the fairgrounds any day through Sunday.

From livestock such as pigs, goats, cattle and lambs to smaller farmyard critters such as chickens, geese and rabbits, the animals that often end up on our plates will be presented by proud 4H-ers.

Exhibits will also feature vegetables, flower arrangements and crafts. You’ll also be able to watch demonstrations with mules, miniature horses and herding dogs.

And, to remind you it’s New Mexico, there’s a salsa contest and a chile challenge.

The Santa Fe County Fair runs through Sunday. Find a schedule at santafeextension.nmsu.edu.
