Sandia Crest snowshoe race slated for Jan. 22

The Friends of the Sandia Mountains will host the 18th Sandia Snowshoe Race at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22.

The 5K race will begin at the lower-level parking lot at Sandia Crest and will run through trails in the Cibola National Forest.

The event is limited to 175 participants, ages 13 and older. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, and there will be no day of race registration. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Sandia Mountains for preservation and maintenance of trails, as well as other U.S. Forest Service resources.
