As expected, the Pac-12 has decided not to extend its contract with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl past this December. So, Conference USA has signed up to provide the opposition for a Mountain West team, starting in 2014 .(The New Mexico Bowl and the Mountain West actually don’t have a contract past this season, but that’s expected to be rectified soon).
Certainly, a Conference USA team doesn’t bring the name recognition of a Pac-12 team. But, then, a C-USA team’s fan base might be a bit more excited about coming to Albuquerque for a bowl game. Linked to here is Conference USA’s membership for football.
