Members of the New Mexico National Guard recently delivered 100 freezers to New Mexicans whose homes were damaged by the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire.
According to a National Guard news release, the freezers were given to San Miguel and Mora county residents who were in need of new ones because of damage caused either by the fire or related power outages.
The freezers were provided by the New Mexico Cares Foundation, a charitable organization that works to improve social and economic conditions throughout the state, according to the foundation’s website. More than 170 residents have asked for freezers or other appliances, the news release says.
