Albuquerque Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiating Team were dispatched to the area of Rhode Island Street and Claremont NE just after midnight Sunday after reports of a domestic dispute.
“During the encounter, officers attempted to apprehend a suspect wanted for domestic violence charges, this individual had barricaded inside their residence and has refused to cooperate with officers as they’ve attempted to place this individual into custody,” an email from police spokesman Chase Jewell says. “The APD Tactical Unit to include the APD SWAT and Crisis Negotiating Team has been dispatched to aid in apprehending this individual.”
After several hours, the suspect was taken into custody, according to an email from police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos.
