CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Alex Flores, 12, of Las Cruces caught a 10-pound blue catfish at Caballo Lake using cut shad bait Jan. 8.

Atali Fuentes and his father, Javier, of Portales caught a 12-inch rainbow trout at Oasis Park Lake using PowerBait on Jan. 8.

Robert Sena of Pecos caught and released a 22-inch, 6-pound rainbow trout on the Pecos River using a yellow streamer fly Jan. 2.

Tom Chrobocinski of Ojo Caliente caught a 20-inch rainbow trout on the Rio Grande using a spinner Jan. 6.

Jojo Lujan, 11, of Grants caught a 19-inch brown trout on the San Juan River using a size-26, midge-pattern fly Dec. 23.

Chris Ortega of Albuquerque caught a 24-inch rainbow trout on the Tiger Park Reservoir using a black beadhead, yellow-and-chartreuse San Juan worm fly Dec. 31.

Giovanni Yannoni, 3, of Albuquerque caught a 12-inch rainbow trout at Tingley Beach using tan PowerBait at the kid’s pond Jan. 4.

Cabresto Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes is closed to boating and fishing until March.

Streamflow on the Cimarron River near Cimarron on Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Clayton Lake is closed to boating and fishing until March.

Conchas Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

At Costilla Creek, the Valle Vidal is closed to fishing until July.

Cowles Ponds had no reports from anglers this week.

Coyote Creek had no reports from anglers this week.

Ice fishing for trout at Eagle Nest Lake was good using PowerBait, tungsten ice fishing jigs tipped with mealworms and pink Trout Magnet lures. Ice fishing for perch was good using jigs tipped with worms. Fishing for pike was fair using Trout Magnet lures. Eagle Rock Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Ice fishing for trout and perch at Lake Maloya was fair to good using glow ice-fishing jigs.

Monastery Lake is closed to fishing due to unsafe ice conditions.

Morphy Lake is closed to boating and fishing until March.

Streamflow on the Pecos River near Pecos on Monday morning was not measured due to ice. Fishing for trout was fair to good using streamer flies.

Streamflow on the Red River below the Red River Hatchery on Monday morning was 59 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using Perdigon nymph flies and salmon eggs.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande below the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday morning was 465 cfs. Fishing for trout was slow to fair using spinners, Rapala lures and PowerBait.

Streamflow on the Rio Hondo near Valdez on Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Streamflow on the Rio Mora near Terrero on Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Streamflow on the Rio Pueblo near Pe ñ asco Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Santa Cruz Reservoir is closed to fishing due to unsafe ice conditions.

Shuree Ponds is closed to fishing until July.

Springer Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Storrie Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Stubblefield Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for walleye and white bass at Ute Lake was fair using vibrating blade baits and Rapala jigging lures in 35 to 45 feet of water. The main lake water surface temperature was in the low 40s and the water was clear.

Northwest fishing report

Abiquiú Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Streamflow on the Animas River below Aztec on Monday morning was 184 cfs.

Fishing for trout at Albuquerque Area Drains was fair to good using Squirmy Wormies.

Bluewater Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Brazos River had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes had no reports from anglers this week.

Cochiti Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Fenton Lake is open for ice fishing.

The city is in the final stages of repairs at Grants Riverwalk Pond and stocking will resume soon.

Heron Lake is closed due to unsafe ice conditions.

At the Jemez Waters, streamflow near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 21 cfs.

Laguna del Campo is closed to fishing until March.

Lagunitas Lakes had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington had no reports from anglers this week.

Stocking efforts have been suspended at McGaffey Lake due to extremely low water levels and unstable ground conditions. Lake conditions will be monitored and stocking will resume once conditions improve.

Navajo Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Streamflow on the Rio Chama below El Vado Lake and below Abiquiú Lake on Monday morning was 103 cfs and 106 cfs, respectively. Fishing for trout below Abiquiú Lake was slow to fair using spinners, flies and PowerBait. Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiquiú upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiquiú Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of two trout only.

Rio Grande had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for trout at Riverside Park Pond (Aztec Pond #1) was fair to good using streamer flies.

San Gregorio Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Streamflow on the San Juan River near Archuleta on Monday morning was 289 cfs. Fishing for trout in the quality waters was fair to good using black, size-26 midge-pattern flies. Fishing for trout in the bait waters was good using Rooster Tail spinners, salmon eggs, San Juan worm flies and egg-pattern flies.

Seven Springs Brood Pond had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for trout at Tiger Park Reservoir was good using black, beadhead yellow-and-chartreuse San Juan worm flies.

Fishing for trout at Tingley Beach was good using tan PowerBait, salmon-peach PowerBait and corn. Fishing for trout in the catch-and-release pond was good using scud flies.

Trout Lakes had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for trout at Alumni Pond was good using salmon eggs soaked in garlic, Velveeta cheese, chunky cheese PowerBait and marshmallows.
