A chill may have descended on New Mexico, but a good deal is a good deal. All National Park Service sites are forgoing entrance fees today in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. day.
Here in New Mexico, that includes everything from the Valles Caldera National Preserve west of Los Alamos to Carlsbad Caverns down south — and more.
The entrance fee waiver applies only to National Park Service entrance fees and does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping, boat launches, transportation or special tours.
If the cozy allure of home is too great, don’t worry; National Park Service has four other entrance fee-free days planned for this year:
- April 22, to mark the first day of National Park Week
- Aug. 4, the anniversary of the Great Outdoors Act
- Sept. 23, to celebrate National Public Lands Day
- Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
