Police ID woman killed in I-40 crash Tuesday morning

Police have identified the person killed in a fatal crash on Interstate 40 in Albuquerque on Tuesday morning.

Ona Savage, 83, of Albuquerque died in the crash that happened around 8:30 a.m., according to New Mexico State Police.

According to an agency news release, Savage’s Chevrolet Aveo was parked in the right lane near the Juan Tabo exit when it was hit by a Ford pickup truck also going east.

Savage died at the scene from her injuries, police said.

A 14-year-old passenger in Savage’s car was taken to a hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The pickup truck driver wasn’t injured.

The eastbound lanes of I-40 were shut at Eubank following the crash and reopened more than an hour later.
