The Albuquerque Museum Foundation is a first-time recipient of a grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The foundation was awarded a $100,000 grant to support the upcoming Albuquerque Museum exhibition “Broken Boxes” that will be on view Sept. 2, 2024-Jan. 5, 2025.
“Broken Boxes” celebrates 10 years as a podcast project that highlights BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and activist visual artists whose work and practices challenge social, political and creative orthodoxies.
“This grant funding will allow the museum to do something new – while extending the life of ‘Broken Boxes’ message that deepens ‘our collective understanding for the strength that resides in our community intersections’ to a time and place beyond the podcast’s ten years,” said curator Josie Lopez. “We are honored to be among a small group of grant recipients in this grant cycle.”
