If you love animals and can find at least six hours a month of free time, the city’s Animal Welfare Department has an offer that will make you feel warm and cuddly.
You can become part of a volunteer team to help shelter animals waiting for homes and those who have been injured and need help healing — both physically and mentally.
Animal Welfare can work around your schedule and will provide training. “Our volunteers do important tasks that can include socializing and walking dogs, playing with and cuddling cats, fostering, acting as ambassadors at off-site adoption events, supporting our clinic, taking photos, and much more,” said Animal Welfare Department Director Carolyn Ortega.
Volunteers must be 18 years old or older.
