Federal authorities arrested the suspect in a 2021 robbery turned homicide at a motel in Northeast Albuquerque.
Jimmie Glisson, deputy US Marshal in the District of New Mexico, said the arrest of Christopher Maldonado, 35, happened yesterday but Glisson gave no other details.
Maldonado was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Saturday.
Maldonado had been a fugitive since late last year when he, Genea Oliver, 34, and Monique Montano, 33, were all charged in the April 2, 2021, death of 33-year-old Rony Carrera-Flores. Both Oliver and Montano were arrested in the case in October 2022.
Police said all three went along with a plot to rob Carrera-Flores inside his room at the Travelodge motel and, at some point, Maldonado fatally shot Carrera-Flores.
