Lobo milers, men’s 4×400 record highlight NM Team Open

The women’s invitational mile competition and a school record by the host University of New Mexico highlighted the two-day New Mexico Team Open indoor track and field meet, which wrapped up Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Two Lobos posted personal bests during the mile on Friday, etching their names near the top of the NCAA performance list — Lobos Stefanie Parsons (6), Elise Thorner (11), and Samree Dishon (13) were all in the top 15.
Parsons crossed the line in 4 minutes 35.30 seconds (converted from 4:41.64 using the NCAA Altitude Conversions algorithm), second to Washington’s Anna Gibson (4:32.34) and topping her previous best of 4:36.19 two weeks ago in Seattle. Thorner took third at 4:37.27 minutes (4:43.44). Dishon finished in fourth place at 4:37.68 (4:43.86).
The men’s 4×400 relay squad of Rivaldo Leacock, Jevon O’Bryant, Brodie Young, and Jovahn Williamson on Saturday took down the school record in 3:08.81 minutes (3:08.37), which puts the Lobos 25th on the NCAA performance list. The old school mark was 3:10.79.
Next up for UNM is the New Mexico Collegiate Classic this coming Friday and Saturday.
