A 14-year-old boy was taken off life support after being shot and critically injured Friday night in Southwest Albuquerque.
The shooting also claimed the life of his 15-year-old brother and, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, is now being investigated as a double homicide.
BCSO spokeswoman Jayme Fuller-Gonzales did not identify either person. She has not released any further details since the incident occurred.
In a previous release, Fuller-Gonzales said detectives were looking for the suspects who fled in a “dark-colored four-door sedan” from the area.
She said deputies were dispatched around 10:50 p.m. to reports of shooting in the 200 block of Atrisco Vista SW, just south of Central. Fuller-Gonzales said deputies found the 15-year-old who died at the scene and the 14-year-old who was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital in critical condition.
“Limited details are available at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation,” she said.
