CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Janet Barela of Los Lunas caught and released a 22-inch rainbow trout at Eagle Rock Lake using a tungsten jig head tipped with a maggot Jan. 29.

At Fenton Lake, Shellie Perry of Albuquerque caught a 21-inch, 4-pound rainbow trout using corn Jan. 28. … Uriah Lucero of Isleta Pueblo caught his limit of trout using wax worms Jan. 28. … Raiden Lucero, 4, of Corrales caught his first fish, a 12-inch rainbow trout, using salmon eggs Jan. 16.

Robert Sena of Pecos caught and released an 18-inch rainbow trout on the Pecos River using a brown-and-yellow beadhead fly Jan. 29.

Tom Chrobocinski of Ojo Caliente caught a 17-inch brown trout on the Rio Grande using a black-and-gold spinner Jan. 24.

Elias Gabaldon, 10, of Bernalillo caught a 15-inch rainbow trout at Seven Springs Brood Pond using a Pistol Pete spinner fly Jan. 28.

At Costilla Creek, the Valle Vidal is closed to fishing until July.

Ice fishing for trout at Eagle Nest Lake was good using glow ice-fishing jigs, tungsten ice-fishing jigs tipped with mealworms and small spoons. Ice fishing for perch was good using small, glow ice-fishing jigs, and white, silver and green tungsten jigs. Fishing for pike was fair using glow ice-fishing jigs. Streamflow on the Pecos River near Pecos on Monday morning was 45 cfs. Fishing for trout was slow to fair using brown-and-yellow beadhead flies and large, minnow-imitation streamer flies.

Streamflow on the Red River below the Red River Hatchery on Monday morning was 49 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande below the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday morning was 484 cfs. Fishing for trout was slow to fair using black-and-gold spinners.

Streamflow on the Rio Hondo near Valdez Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Streamflow on the Rio Mora near Terrero on Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Streamflow on the Rio Pueblo near Peñasco on Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Santa Cruz Reservoir is closed to fishing due to unsafe ice conditions.

Fishing for walleye and white bass at Ute Lake was fair using vibrating blade baits and large jigging spoons in 40-50 feet of water. The main lake water surface temperature was in the low 40s and the water was clear.

Streamflow on the Animas River below Aztec on Monday morning was 182 cfs.

Albuquerque Area Drains had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes had no reports from anglers this week.

Cochiti Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Ice fishing for trout at Fenton Lake was good using salmon eggs, corn, nightcrawler worms and glow jigs tipped with wax worms.

The city is in the final stages of repairs at Grants Riverwalk Pond and stocking will resume soon.

Heron Lake is closed due to unsafe ice conditions.

At the Jemez Waters, streamflow near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 27 cfs.

Laguna del Campo is closed to fishing until March.

Lagunitas Lakes had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington had no reports from anglers this week.

Stocking efforts at McGaffey Lake have been suspended due to extremely low water levels and unstable ground conditions. Lake conditions will be monitored and stocking will resume once conditions improve.

Navajo Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Streamflow on the Rio Chama below El Vado Lake was not measured due to ice; streamflow below Abiquiú Lake Monday morning was 74 cfs. Fishing for trout below Abiquiú Lake was slow to fair using spinners, flies and PowerBait. Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiquiú upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiquiú Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of two trout only.

Rio Grande had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for trout at Riverside Park Pond (Aztec Pond #1) was fair to good using streamer flies.

San Gregorio Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Streamflow on the San Juan River near Archuleta on Monday morning was 329 cfs. Fishing for trout in the quality waters was fair to good using midge-pattern flies. Fishing for trout in the bait waters was fair to good using egg-pattern flies.
