A man was struck and killed by a truck in southeast Albuquerque on Saturday night.
No charges have been filed against the driver, who initially fled the scene but then returned. Police said it appears pedestrian error caused the crash, Rebecca Atkins, a police spokeswoman, said in a news release.
Police responded to a crash near Central and San Mateo SE at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Witnesses said a man was running south across Central and wasn’t in a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a Chevy truck driving east, Atkins said.
The man died at the scene, according to police.
Atkins said the car drove away but then returned to the scene. It doesn’t appear that speed or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, she said.
