1 found dead with apparent gunshot wounds near Candelaria and I-25

Police are investigating the death of a person they found with apparent gunshot wounds early Monday morning near Candelaria on the west side of Interstate 25, according to a release.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 1500 Candelaria NE at about 4 a.m. to a report of a person in the roadway, Albuquerque Police spokesman Chase Jewell wrote in a release. When they arrived, they found the body in the roadway.

Police announced at about 6:25 a.m. that they had closed Candelaria in both directions between Pan American Freeway and High Street.

No other information has been released.
