The New Mexico Department of Transportation is partnering with local government and Cumulus Media to provide safe transportation during Super Bowl Sunday.
In a news release, the NMDOT said its “Take a Ride on Us” program is offering 800 rides for “people living in and around the Albuquerque metro area” with a $10 Uber credit, available by using the code “SUPER23” in the Uber app, in an effort to combat drunk driving during and following the big game. The offer will be available from 10 a.m. Sunday to 2 a.m. Monday.
According to the release, the “Take a Ride on Us” program has provided about 26,000 rides home since 2017 when it began. The program is often active during holidays or sporting events, such as the Super Bowl, to give people safe options to get home if they’ve been drinking.
In 2022, NMDOT said, they provided 4,500 rides. The program is a partnership between Bernalillo County, the city of Albuquerque, Uber, and Cumulus radio stations.
The release specifies that tips are not included in the offer, and that a refund is not available if the full $10 credit is not used.
