Help create a plan for Valle de Oro
The public is invited to participate in long-range planning on Sept. 28 for Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge, 7851 2nd SW.
The day-long event begins at 10 a.m. and includes educational activities in the morning and a planning session in the afternoon. Participants are invited to bring their families.
Lunch will be provided, so those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to email@example.com to reserve space.
Acoma shares culture on bike tour
The 12th Annual Tour de Acoma bicycle ride takes place on Sept. 22, starting at the Sky City Cultural Center.
The paved bike ride includes 25-, 50- or 100-mile options and the route winds through normally restricted tribal lands.
Online registration is available at www.tourdeacoma.com. Participants registering after the early registration cut-off date of Sept. 9 are not guaranteed a timing chip. Registration is $40-$85 depending on distance; $20 from each registration is donated to the pueblo’s Haa’ku Museum.
Pedal to raise train safety awareness
The New Mexico Rail Runner Express Bike Tour will take place on Sunday. Cycling enthusiasts and novices alike are invited to participate in the 35-mile tour, which is open to cyclists of all ages. The bike tour benefits efforts to promote train safety along the Rail Runner corridor.
The ride will start and end at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque. The bike tour, which is in its second year, is presented by Rio Metro Regional Transit District, Herzog Transit Services Inc. and TCR Race Productions. For more information, go to nmrailrunner.com.
