ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It looks like the spin-off for “Breaking Bad” is moving forward.
Sony Pictures Television and AMC released a joint statement on Wednesday, Sept. 11 saying that they have reached a licensing agreement the spin-off show to Vince Gilligan’s “Breaking Bad.”
“As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title ‘Better Call Saul,’ ” the release said. “Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.”
Bob Odenkirk, who plays Goodman, will again play the role and Gilligan will be involved but writer and producer Peter Gould will run the effort.
There is no word yet on where the TV series will film or if it will based in Albuquerque where “Breaking Bad” was set.
