One-stop hops: A scaled-down Septemberfest will feature a dozen breweries

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Don’t have time to visit some of the area’s most popular breweries in a day? No worries, Son of Septemberfest has it covered.

Sample beers from 12 New Mexico breweries participating in the Sept. 21 event at Marble Brewery. Each of the beers selected for the event are special, meaning they are not part of the participating breweries regular lineups, Marble Brewery co-founder John Gozigian said.

“For sure there will be a couple of Oktoberfests on site, Belgian styles, IPAs, it runs the gamut,” Gozigian said. “There will be some really interesting and delicious beers from each brewery.”

A $15-ticket gets you a sample of each of the beers, an Oktoberfest beer stein featuring a commemorative Septemberfest logo and a pint of your choosing.

Participants are Blue Corn Brewery, Abbey Brewing, La Cumbre Brewing Company, Il Vicino Brewery, Chama River Brewing Company, Nexus Brewery, Santa Fe Brewing Company, Second Street Brewery, Bosque Brewing Company, Sierra Blanca Brewing Company, Taos Mesa Brewing and Marble Brewery.

Entertainment will be provided by Felix y Los Gatos. Food vendors Talking Fountain Kitchen and The Supper Truck will be on site to offer Oktberfest-style dishes, as well as other delicious delights.

Marble Brewery, which hosts the annual event Septemberfest, had to scale down this year’s event due to ongoing construction. The brewery is reconfiguring its parking lot and putting in new beer fermenters.

The name changed to Son of Septemberfest to recognize the down-sized event, according to Gozigian.

“In past years, we had 800 to 900 attendees,” Gozigian said. “This year we’re doing 300 max.”

There are 300 tickets available until they sell out at Marble Brewery, as well as at its sister locations: Marble Westside Tap Room on Albuquerque’s West Side, and Marble Santa Fe Tap Room in Santa Fe.
