Flooding closes schools in Bluewater, Grants

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Concerns over flooding have forced two Cibola County communities to cancel school today, KOB-TV reported.

All schools in Bluewater and Grants will be closed today, according to the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office and the Emergency Management Office, Eyewitness News 4 said.

Authorities told KOB-TV that they didn’t want students walking around in floodwaters that could be contaminated with raw sewage.

The rising Rio San Jose flooded Riverwalk Park in Grants on Monday, with water creeping up on sidewalks, covering several steps on the city’s Amphitheater and causing possible damage to the Riverwalk bridge, KOB-TV said.

The 13th Judicial District Court in Grants will be closed today, and Cibola County offices are on a three-hour delay because of flooding, according to KOB-TV’s list of weather-related closings and delays.
