ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — When Casey Wilson arrives in Santa Fe for the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival in a week, she’s going all out.
“I’m pulling out all my turquoise jewelry,” she quips. “I’ve always had fun in Santa Fe and can’t wait to see what more the city has to offer. I need a little bit of peace in my life.”
The “Happy Endings” and “Saturday Night Live” alum is going to premiere her feature film, “Ass Backwards” on Oct. 20 at the Center for Contemporary Arts.
Wilson shares writing credit with June Diane Raphael and the pair also will be making an appearance at the screening. Wilson says the duo wrote the film loosely based on some of their experiences after college. (Oh, and “Breaking Bad” fans, Bob Odenkirk has a role in this film.) See story.
Everyone loves free things. On Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Santa Fe Railyard, British band Frightened Rabbit will perform. The five-piece band has had the music industry buzzing with its current album, “Pedestrian Verse,” and is known for its live performances. Make sure to see this band before it goes mainstream – and then you’ll have to pay for a ticket. See story.
It’s brew time – which is magic to local craft beer lovers’ ears. Craft beers from two New Mexico distilleries and 22 microbreweries will be showcased at the New Mexico Brew Fest on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Villa Hispana on the Expo New Mexico Fairgrounds. See story.
It’s also October, which means that it’s time for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. For the next nine days, hot air balloons will fill the Duke City sky. Check out the special section in today’s Journal.
