New Mexico State University’s Stephanie Walker, Cooperative Extension Service vegetable specialist, and Joran Viers, Bernalillo County Extension county program director, join show landscape contractor Roger Cook in helping Albuquerque residents Nick and Chelsea Mackos plant a chile garden.

The segment will air on “This Old House Hour” Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on Las Cruces’ PBS station KRWG Channel 22, and Sunday at 4 p.m. on Albuquerque’s PBS station KNME Channel 5 during the second half of the show. The segment will be available online at the Sunday after the broadcast premiere.

Walker was contacted to share her expertise about chile after the show’s producer heard her on a National Public Radio program. She asked Viers to help design the 4- by 8-foot raised bed and install the drip irrigation.
